Glamping Tent
There is only one glamping tent at Outback Astronomy – it truly is an exclusive experience.
If you book the tent you must also book to attend the sky show that evening. View our calendar of sky shows here.
The tent contains one queen bed and accommodates only two persons.
Nestled in a gum tree garden next to our stargazing site, this sturdy tent accommodates two glampers who want a small taste of the outback.
This experience offers stargazing, camping and a glorious sunrise over the low eastern hills to the chirping and chatter of local birdlife.
- Short walk to amenities and recreation room
- Exclusive access to showers and toilets
- Exclusive BBQ and pool use
- Fully fenced, secure location
- 10 minute drive from Broken Hill
The bed is made up with quality linen and fitted with an electric blanket. In summer, the tent has a fan and air conditioning. The tent has a small fridge stocked with bottled water.
Glampers access showers and toilets in a nearby recreation room. Bath towels, mats and washers and guest amenities are supplied. Pool towels are available upon request. The recreation room has a pool table, large fridge and freezer for guests’ use and a couple of comfy Lazy Boy recliners for weary travellers to rest in. Guests will have doonas made available for them to use in the reclined chairs during their sky show.
The tent location is shady from midday onwards – the perfect place to do some birdwatching and observe local wildlife. You may also like to walk about the nearby countryside – there are numerous tracks to explore.
Nearby road and rail traffic is unpredictable, though infrequent. Some guests like to do some random gazing during the night so if you are awoken for any reason, you may like to borrow binoculars or a telescope. Guests also have reclined chairs and deck chairs for use during the evening.
When daylight savings time does not apply from April to September, check into the tent from 2pm but before 4pm in order to be ready for the sky show. Enjoy a lazy check out by 11:00am on the day of your departure.
Safe Camping Area for Children
Are you bringing children? If so, and your children are aged 8 years and above, they can pitch their tent or roll out swags on our large grassed area. This camping site can be used only in connection with a booking for the glamping tent (by their parents or guardians). There is a maximum limit of six additional persons. Only two persons can be accommodated in the tent and the six other persons will be camping outdoors on the grassed area. When you book the tent, an email will be sent to you with further details about the cost of additional persons.
